at work today…. part two

i was talking with a lady in her room. i think she is close to ninety. i told her i liked all the pictures on her wall. she started to tell me stories about all of them. my favorite was her wedding photo. she married in the war. she said she desperately wanted a white wedding dress, but she couldn’t because it was war. so she wore a black dress. (which looked really lovely on her) she looked so gorgeous on the wedding picture! really beautiful. like an old moviestar. she was twenty years old. a few days after she was married, her husband had to go to germany. 

there was also a picture of her and her husband when they were married for thirty years. she had told him.. when we are married for forty years, i wanna have a big party. we’ll invite everyone we know!! her husband died a year before that could happen.

all of her children’s and grandchildren’s wedding photo’s were hanging on her wall too. they did wear white wedding dresses. she said: “do you see how they all wear such pretty white gowns? it really was my wish to marry in white, i’ll always feel sad about it”
